Skill learnt- We were taught to use the overhead pass which involved us lifing the ball above our heads and hurling it where we want.
Technique- We had to make sure it was a good time to use the pass, for example if there were alot of players around us and we wanted to throw it far, a bounce pass might not be powerful enough so we would use the overhead pass. We would use our arms like a catapult and hurl the ball to our team mates.
Tactic- As mentioned the most effective time to use this pass is if you are surrounded by opposition players because it will give you the ability to throw it above the other players, with power, to where you want it to go.
It was fun to do this pass and I was quite good at it because I could use my power to launch the ball across to my team mates. It enabled me to spread the ball about the pitch, even when I was being tightly marked.

Netball- Movement
Skill learnt- Movement is very important in netball and we were taught our positions and where we were allowed to go on the pitch. When you know where you can and can't go, you then need to make sure you move in the correct positions for your team mates to pass to you, which is what we did.
Technique- When attacking you need to lose your marker so your team mates can pass to you. This requires movement and you need to make sure you do not give your marker a rest so you must be constantly moving into space to entice the pass. By feinting where you are running to you will take your marker off guard and this will give you a few seconds in which a pass can be made to you.
Tactic- If you have good movement, it means you will be able to give and recieve passes regularly and so you will be a key part of your team. Your team mates will always be able to rely on you and will always seek you out for a pass.
I was good at the movement because i can feint a run and throw my marker off me. It is much harder when you are defending though because you have to watch other players while you are marking a player which gives the player your marking opportunities to break freee.

Netball- Bounce Pass
Skill learnt- We learnt how to do a bounce pass by dummying where we were going to throw it and then bouncing it under our opponent to our team mates.
Technique- To ensure we did not lose possession when attempting this pass we were told to pretend we were going to do chest pass and then, when the opposition players were least expecting it, we bounced it under them. It needed the right power and angle on it to ensure it reaches a team mate. It also needed to be just out of reach of the opponent to prevent them intercepting the pass.
Tactic- In a tightly packed goalmouth, it is a very handy pass to be able to use because it gives you another option. When you or your team mates are being tightly marked, you will not be able to make a chest pass without losing possession so you can bounce it under the opposition to keep play going.
It was a challenging pass because you had to make sure you were getting the angle right, as well as the power and also the fact that you were trying not to give the other team the idea of what you were going to try and attempt.

Netball- Chest Pass
Skill learnt- Chess passing involves you bending your arms and holding the ball in toward your chest and then using your arms like a spring to project the ball in the direction of your choosing. When releasing the ball you must ensure that only your fingertips are touching ball to ensure you get maximum projection on the pass.
Technique- The chest pass is an easy one to master and this is because of the simplicity of the pass. All you need to do is draw it close to your chest and they push your arms forward and then push the ball away with your fingertips.
Tactic- The chest pass is the most common form of passing in netball. This is because it enables people to get good power on a throw even though they cannot move from the spot. The fact that they can't move when throwing means they need to find another method for getting power on their pass, and so the chest pass is a good tactic for getting around this problem. It allows players to spread the ball further than any other pass would.
The chest pass was easy to master and I felt I was reasonably good at it. If I had a weakness at this it would be that I overshot passes from times to time, which lost possession for my team.

Netball- Shooting
Skill learnt- We learnt how to shoot by practicing in a game. Everyone had a turn as goal shooter which ensured that everyone had the opportunity to practice the skill. It is a very important skill because it is the only way to win the game.
Technique- We were taught to take our time when shooting and aim carefully, while also taking into account the movement of the opposing player who is trying to block your shot. Ensure you keep both your feet on the ground when shooting as you may be penalised for commiting a foul if you move. If you need to get a lot of power on your shot you need to bend your arms and spring the ball out from your body for maximum power.
Tactic- This skill is essential for at least one team member to have because it is the way to win a game. If you score more points than the other team you win and so you need to be able to have this skill if you are an attacking player.
I enjoyed shooting as it is the funnest part of the game, even though I struggled to score and need more practice. I was able shoot with power but I lacked the accuracy required which was my main weakness.
